Senior project day 10

At 10:30 this morning, I talked to Trish Murtha, Megan Hardie's mother-in-law! Megan thought it would be cool to talk to her because she is a watercolorist and makes her own prints. We chatted for about 40 minutes, and it was amazing to talk to her! She advised scanning my paintings at a higher DPI (dots per inch), so that the image is clearer. No matter how good the scan is, the painting will almost always show up a little more faded than the original, especially with watercolor because it's generally a light medium. So, what many artists do is scan or take a picture of their work and upload it to photoshop to make adjustments. You can adjust the hues and saturation of the painting, making it a little brighter on the screen, and running test prints until the adjustments are just right. I'm looking forward to trying this out with my new printer, which should arrive tomorrow. This morning we got a full refund for the first printer I tried, and I'm feeling a lot better about this new Epson one coming than the HP one I used initially. I'm using a separate scanner this time, because I would rather have a device that can do one thing really well than a machine that is more of an all-in-one, which is what the HP printer was. So, hopefully this will improve the quality of my prints. I'll have to go through the process of setting up the printer again and do a ton of troubleshooting, but it's worth it.

This afternoon I went into campus to keep the stats book for the girl's varsity lacrosse team, as well as bring the speaker out and get it going for warm-ups (the more important job, obviously). Then I went to the studio and trimmed one of my pots. Annnnnd the most exciting part of the day was that I got to try out my new stamp! My mom and I bought a stamp that we will put on the back of our work, and so today I used it for the first time in ceramics and I really love it. Now I am in the theater waiting for the show to begin in an hour and a half. I did not, in fact, finish my paper last night so that's the goal for tonight. I am very tired though, so I don't know if that's going to happen. I put the hours down in advance because I'm not getting home until pretty late tonight, but if things end up changing I will adjust the times.
